No Comms on Wall Controller/App

Follow the steps below to diagnose a communication issue between the iZone system and the AC unit.

For Nova/Nova mini users

Confirm the Nova/Nova mini controller firmware is up to date

  • Navigate to Menu → Settings → Nova Services.
  • Check the Controller Version Number and confirm that the Nova firmware/software is up to date by tapping check for update.

Hard reset the AC unit for 15 minutes

  • Turn the AC unit off at the isolator/circuit breaker.
  • Leave the AC unit powered off for 15 minutes.
  • Restore power and allow the system to fully restart.

Check System details

  • If the unit still shows "No Comms" after completing the hard reset, check the system details on the Nova wall controller.
  • Navigate to Menu → Settings → System Settings.
  • Tap the system/ID number beginning with 000.
  • Tap iZone Hub / Wired Bridge.
  • Scroll down and locate Device List.
  • Record or take a photo of the Device List displayed.
  • Contact iZone Technical Support on 08 6556 6415 and press 3 for Technical Support.
  • Provide the technician with your issue and the recorded Device List information to assist with further troubleshooting.

For Nexus Users

Hard reset the AC unit for 15 minutes

  • Turn the AC unit off at the isolator/circuit breaker.
  • Leave the AC unit powered off for 15 minutes.
  • Restore power and allow the system to fully restart.

Check System details

  • If the unit still shows "No Comms" after completing the hard reset, check the system details on the Nexus wall controller.
  • Navigate to Settings → Configuration → Configure Air Conditioner (x).
  • Enter the password WAMFUD and tap Enter.
  • Under the System tab, tap System Device List.
  • Record the information displayed or take a clear photo of the Device List.

For Installers

Hard reset the AC unit for 15 minutes

  • Turn the AC unit off at the isolator/circuit breaker.
  • Leave the AC unit powered off for 15 minutes.
  • Restore power and allow the system to fully restart.

Check AC Unit Power Supply

  • If the iZone system is connected to a different power source from the AC unit, check for any power supply issues on the AC unit circuit side.
  • Confirm that the indoor unit PCB has flashing indicator lights.
  • If there are no lights, investigate the AC unit's power supply and indoor board.

Test Using the AC Unit's OEM Controller

  • Test the AC unit using its original OEM/brand controller.
  • Confirm whether the AC unit operates correctly independently of the iZone system.
  • If the AC unit does not respond to the OEM controller, investigate the AC unit itself before continuing with iZone troubleshooting.
  • If the AC unit operates correctly with the OEM controller but not through iZone, focus the investigation on the iZone module, communication cable, compatibility, or configuration.

Check the AC Unit Module

  • Confirm that the correct iZone AC unit module is installed for the AC model (use the AC compatibility guide).
  • Check that the module has flashing indicator lights.
  • Note the colour and sequence of the flashing lights, as this may indicate the module's status or an error condition.

Check Communication Cable Connections

  • Make sure the cable used is a shielded two core twisted pair cable.
  • Inspect the communication cable at both ends.
  • Confirm that the cable is securely connected to:
    • The iZone CPU.
    • The AC unit indoor board at the correct terminals.
  • Check for loose, damaged, or incorrectly terminated connections.

Check Communication Cable Polarity and DIP Switches

  • Confirm that the communication cable polarity is correct at both ends.

  • Check whether the AC unit requires specific DIP switch settings on the indoor or outdoor board.

  • Confirm the required configuration against the iZone AC compatibility guide.

  • If the AC unit works fine on the OEM/brand controller and all above checks have been done, please contact iZone Technical Support on 08 6556 6415 and press 2 for Technical Support.
